About College:

Geethanjali College of Engineering & Technology has been structured to take lead on the changing trends of technology. Over the years since it was established, there has been dynamic progress at Geethanjali in all academic and research activities, and a parallel improvement in facilities and infrastructure, to keep it on par with the best institutions in India. The campus epitomizes the Geethanjali motto, “Striving towards perfection” in providing the best of infrastructure and ambience. Geethanjali keeps a keen eye on the current trends and innovations happening in the industry and offers learning methods, which are designed to meet the evolving requirements of the industry.

Problem Definition:

The college was paying hefty electricity bills year after year with no relief of reduction in tariff. They have realized that they have to pay electricity bills until the existence of the college, when they have decided to go for rooftop solar. It took a few months for them to understand about solar, their energy needs, usage of power against each department and then finalize on the selection process. Their problem was high electricity costs and they want permanent relief by financial return on investment (ROI) and free power post ROI.

Solution:

Four Solar has been selected as the EPC Contractor for the rooftop solar project to relief them from recurring electricity costs and eventually consume and enjoy FREE POWER post subsidy.

After a thorough site survey and analysis, we found few challenges in planning and designing the project as the roofs are distributed. There are 3 blocks that needed the load to be divided accordingly but the one of the block’s distribution board is farther than normal accepted range, for which, we had a work-around to minimize power losses. The design of panel laying, cable routing and inverter locations had to be effective to minimise DC and AC losses, and we were successful.

The project was executed professionally and has been running successful since the commissioning date. We have used 320 watts Vikram Solar panels mounted on hot dip galvanised structure and German inverters from SMA, a world leading company. Since the day of commissioning, we have seen good energy generation, which the customer is happy to see savings from day one. We are glad to meet customer’s expectations and give them solid financial return on their investment (ROI).
